The presentation of the book "Vivat, Àlma Mater, or the Chronicle of the Tent Revolution in Sumy - 2004", written by SSU professors Leonid Mel’nyk and Serhiy Illyashenko in co-authorship with Natalya Illyashenko (SSU master) took place March 22 in the SSU assembly hall (Main Building).
It is the first book that is the full reflection of the students’ revolution “on the grass”. Here is all the truth about the 2004 summer events. That time students, educators and Sumy community put up resistance to the powers’ abuse of discretion who tried to unite three Higher Schools. After more than monthly resistance to the powers, living in the camping and walking campaign to Kyiv ex-president Leonid Kuchma was forced to abolish his decree that had initiated the process of Higher Schools uniting. It became the first victory over the powers’ abuse of discretion.
At the meeting the authors told some stories, impressions that the book does not include. Here was be surprises for the present persons; it was peculiarly concern the most active participants of 2004 summer events.
