Decision project of the conference of SSU employees of 24 November 2004
The conference of SSU employees is very alarmed by the present political situation in Ukraine, Sumy and at the university and finds it dangerous. The current processes must not lead to society and its components destruction. Great masses of student youth are involved into this confrontation. And participation in such actions may be dangerous in the view of possible consequences.
The situation has been discussed at structural departments of the university, professional committee meeting, meeting with students, general meeting of students.
On the basis of the discussion the conference decided (pronounced):
- to express distrust to Ukrainian authorities and indignation by fraudulent results of presidential elections; to support action of civil disobedience;
- to approve the text of the letter to the President of Ukraine, the Supreme Council, head of the Supreme Court, head of the central electoral commission.
- acknowledging and respecting the civil position of each student, to make a request to stand upon their point of view only within the bounds of law.
- to guarantee that any prosecuting measures will not be taken because of students opinions; but the term curriculum must be fulfilled without exception;
- acknowledging the right of every teacher, student, collaborator to express one’s civil position, to conduct classes according to the time-schedule and also providing studying consultations.
