Chair "Processes and equipment of chemical and petroleum refineries”
General characteristics
Developmental stages - chair title and the year of renaming:
- 1966 -1972 ðð. - Engineering disciplines;
- 1972 -1978 ðð. - Machines and devices of chemical enterprises (MDCE);
- 1978 - 2000 ðð. - Chemical technics and industrial ecology (CTIE);
- ç 2000 ð. - Processes and eqipment of chemical and petroleum refineries (PECPRE).
The chair carries out training of specialists with higher education according to three-stage system of educational-qualification levels:
- bachelor according to the specialty 6.0902 "Engineering mechanics" with educational term of 4 years;
- specialist (Mechanical engineer) in the specialty 7.090220 "Chemical enterprises and enterprises of building materials equipment" with 5-year term of education (daily form) and 6 years (extra-mural form);
- master of the specialty 8.090220 "Chemical enterprises and enterprises of building materials equipment".
The chair was licensed according to the 4th highest level of accreditation (license of the Ministry of education of Ukraine ¹ 196859 since 26.12.1998).
Training of specialists is carried out in daily and extra-mural forms of education according to the specialties:
- 7.090220.01À – "Machines and devices of chemical enterprises";
- 7.090220.01Á – "Machines and devices of chemical and petroleum refineries";
- 7.090220.02 – "Chemical machine and apparatus-building".
The chair has a standing post-graduate course and trains candidates of technical sciences in the specialties:
- 05.05.13 – Machines and devices of chemical enterprises;
- 05.17.08 – Processes and equipment of chemical technology.
The chair has two 2 branches: at the PC "Sumychimprom" consisting of 3 persons and at the Kachanivs’ky gas-transferring work consisting of 2 persons.
A specialist of chemical technics in comparison with a specialist of machine-building has more profound knowledge on inorganic and physical chemistry, knows the theory of processes and devices of chemical enterprises, principles of work and devices construction, machines and plants, possesses methods of computer calculations, can construct and calculate chemical technics, run machines, plants and aggregations of chemical, food, gas- and petroleum refineries.
Specialists – graduates of the chair mainly work at chemical and gas-, petroleum refineries, machine-building plants, and also at different cognate enterprises at posts of masters, workshops operators, leading and main specialists. Besides, graduates work at design offices and research institutions.
Material and technical basis of the chair
At present material and technical basis of the chair contains 3 educational and specialized laboratories, equiped with model sets, experimental stands, actual examples of Machines and devices of chemical enterprises, there count more than 30 of them. The chair has two lecture-rooms, one of them is equipped with educational television, class of computer calculations, educational-methodical cabinet.
The laboratory of processes and chemical enterprises devices is meant for carrying out of experimental researches with the purpose of confirmation of the main rules of hydrodynamic, thermal and mass-transfer processes. Laboratory sets and stands ensure study of the main parts of the course "Processes and chemical and petroleum refineries devices".
Laboratory "Study and calculation of chemical enterprises devices" ensures profound study of the discipline "Calculation and designing of machines and devices of chemical and petroleum-refining enterprises".
The laboratory "Machines and devices of chemical enterprises" with the total area over 250 m2 is located in the laboratory building B. The laboratory MDCE is ensured with all the necessary methodical tips for carrying out of practical and laboratory work.
Besides, students study at the basis of the chair branches attached to the PC "Sumychimprom" and Kachanivs’k gas-transfer plant.
Chair research work and staff
Research work on intensification of heat- and mass-transfer processes and chemical technology equipment concerning creation and new examples of mass-transfer technics (granulation and crystallization equipment, evaporative, absorbing and siccative sets, etc.) introduction into production has been carried out for many years at the chair. Students, post-graduate students and research assistants take part in research work. Research work of students, bachelors, masters and post-graduate students of the chair is carried out according to the scientific directions, which has been sustained by experienced teachers - scientific advisers for many years.
Annually 20-25 reports with the participation of teachers, students and post-graduate students are presented to the traditional scientific-technical conferences of teachers and students. Report theses are printed.
Teachers and chair collaborators have received more than 250 author certificates and patents for inventions, there have been published 7 books and more than 700 articles in scientific and scientific-technical magazines and collections. More than 30 chair graduates of the previous years defended Ph.D theses.
There have been defended 5 doctoral and about 20 Ph.D. theses according to the materials of research works, which have been executed during 35 years at the chair.
There work at the chair: 2 doctors of technical sciences, 6 candidates of technical sciences, 3 professors and 5 assistant professors. 4 persons make up the chair educational-support personnel. 4 post-graduates and 1 competitor are studying at the post-graduate course. Chair teacher staff is fulfilled and renewed mainly thanks to the own graduates of the post-graduate course.
Educational and educational-methodical work
Today the chair ensures teaching of 24 special disciplines, which form specialists according to two specializations - "Machines and devices of chemical and petroleum-refining enterprises" and "Chemical machine- and device-building".
The main chair disciplines are:
- Processes and devices of chemical and petroleum-refining enterprises;
- Chemical equipment exploitation and servicing;
- Calculation and designing of machines and devices of chemical and petroleum-refining enterprises;
- Technological equipment of chemical and petroleum-refining enterprises;
- Assembling, diagnostics and maintenance of chemical enterprises equipment;
