Chair of Marketing

1. General knowledge about the chair of marketing

The specialty “Marketing” is relatively new for Ukraine. The students who are educated there study theoretical bases and practice methods of organization of activity of enterprises and establishments in the market conditions.

Graduates get higher economic education at the specialty “Marketing” with profound preparation of the following problems:

  • technologies of carrying out of market marketing researches;
  • advertisement and stimulation of sale (technologies, organization and control);
  • forming of sale line and system of commodity circulation;
  • development of goods and forming of goods policy;
  • choice of strategies of pricing and development of marketing price policy;
  • commercial activity of intermediary enterprises;
  • management of marketing at an enterprise;
  • rationalization of material and information flows at an enterprise;
  • marketing of innovational processes;
  • marketing of innovations;
  • making up of marketing prognoses;
  • use of information technologies and systems in marketing;
  • organization of marketing at industrial enterprise, small-scale business and in foreign-economic activity.

Specialists of the specialty "Marketing" are prepared for professional activity in small-scale and average business at enterprises and establishments of different forms of property, production and non-production sphere, organs of government and local bodies, educational and scientific establishments, including:

  • at enterprises and unions, common included;
  • credit-financial institutions;
  • commercial, consulting, intermediary firms and advertising agencies;
  • exchanges, investment companies;
  • in project organizations and establishments;
  • in scientific and educational institutions;
  • local bodies and organs of government of different levels, as experts in the problems of commercial activity, marketing management, foreign-economic activity.

They can take the following posts:

  • managers-businessmen and experts of individual, family and private enterprises;
  • experts and managers of functional subdivisions and services of enterprises and establishments;
  • experts and managers of commercial departments of enterprises and unions;
  • experts and managers of local bodies and organs of government;
  • teachers of economics, management and marketing of educational institutions;
  • scientific collaborators.

2. General information about the chair of marketing of the Sumy State University (SSU)

The chair of marketing was created on September 1, 2002 by means of separation from the chair of economics, the licence for training of experts in the specialty "Marketing" was issued on July 11, 2002 (protocol ¹40).

It is headed by the Doctor of Economical Sciences, professor Sergij M. Illyashenko.

6 teachers work at the chair:

Three of them work at doctoral theses: Teletov Î.S. (he is working for doctor's degree at the Kyiv National Economic University), Prokopenko O.V. (he is working for doctor's degree at the SSU), Bozhkova V.V. (competitor of the SSU).

All the teachers are experts in the marketing field and have experience of practical work in the role of experts and managers of marketing subdivisions of enterprises and establishments. They successfully combine scientific-pedadogical activity with practical.

The chair is located in the building "Ò", room Ò-115.

    10. Prognostication of technical-economical level of machines.

4. Scientific work

The main directions of scientific researches are:

  • Methodological and scientific-methodic bases of marketing of the innovation process;
  • Management of the process of innovation development of managing subjects at marketing bases;
  • Organization-economic mechanisms and tools of managing of forming and development of the ecologic innovations market;
  • Methods of management of marketing and innovation risks of enterprises;
  • Problems of industrial marketing;
  • Problems of motivation of customer demand;
  • Management of non-material assets, etc.

A number of monographs were published by collaborators and teachers of the chair of marketing according to the materials of marketing researches, these are:

  • "Problems of automated system creation of markets’ analysis", 1993 (Illyashenko S.Ì., Zakharkin Î.².);
  • "Economic aspects of purposeful markets search: segmentation, risk estimate, economic tool kit", 1997 (Illyashenko S.Ì.);
  • "Innovation development of market possibilities: management problems", 1999 (Illyashenko S.Ì.);
  • "Marketing of the production of production-technical purpose", 2002 (Teletov Î.S.)
  • "Forming of the market of ecologic innovations: economic bases of management", 2002 (Illyashenko S.Ì., Prokopenko Î.V.);
  • "Management of economic risks of innovations ", 2004 (Illyashenko S.Ì., Bozhkova V.V.);
  • Management and marketing of innovations", 2004 (edited by Illyashenko S.Ì.).

Teachers, people working for doctor's degree and post-graduates of the chair take an active part in scientific-methodic conferences on marketing subject-matter of different levels. Annually they take part in dozens of scientific-methodic conferences of different levels.

Teachers and collaborators of the chair of marketing regularly publish articles (up to 60 articles annually) in the leading special editions of Ukraine.

The following editions are issued in the SSU: international scientific special magazine "Mechanism of regulation of economics", special magazine "SSU Bulletin. Series "Economy" and a special international magazine "Problems and perspectives in management". A considerable part of these editions is made up by the articles of the teachers, people working for doctor's degree and post-graduates of the chair of marketing.

By the chair of marketing since October 2002 there was open a post-graduate course, and since 2003 – post-graduate course for doctor`s degree, on the scientific specialty 08.06.01 - Economy, organization and management of enterprises, marketing is also included into its staff. At the post-graduate course of the chair and post-graduate course for doctor`s degree there study 10 post-graduates and 1 person working for doctor's degree, who will work as staff teachers after the defence.

Head of the chair of marketing is a deputy of the head of specialized council on the defence of Ph.D. theses on economy at SSU, and also is a member of the specialized council by the Sumy National Agrarian University.

5. Methodical ensuring

Educational process at the chair of marketing is fully equipped with educational-methodical literature. Collaborators of the chair of marketing developed and published textbooks and manuals with the corresponding stamps of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine:

But for the enumerated in the educational process there are used educational textbooks and manuals of the authors of other higher educational institutions, translated foreign ones are used aswell.

For all the courses the disciplines, those lectured by the chair, developed work programs and methodical tips for practical tasks, term papers and individual works.

By the chair there is a methodical cabinet created, work programs of the disciplines, textbooks, manuals and methodical tips, magazines and monographs to the marketing subject-matter are given there.

The chair developed electronic versions of the textbooks "Marketing in examples and tasks" and "Economic risk and methods of its measurement". There are electronic versions of abstracts of teacher dissertations at the chair. There have been developed educational programs package for the knowledge control in marketing.

7. Participation of students in contests, Olympiads etc.

  • 2003 – First place in the All-Ukrainian students Olympiad on marketing (Donets’k);
  • 2004 – Third place at the Ukrainian students festival of advertising (Kharkiv);
  • 2004 – Diploma of the 1st degree at the All-Ukrainian scientific-practical students seminar „Marketing – a step into the third millenium. (Donets’k)
